Standardization of process in health care
Whenever a sequence of process is standardized, you’re well on your way to radically improving patient satisfaction .
More defined a process is more efficient is the organisation .
Process is one big thing that impact all other factors in a system . Standardised process is the most effective manner of ensuring tasks are performed consistently and without variation but till now no thought have been made to make it mandatory for both Private and Government health care providers to make their process standardised .
NABH is one such body which has a fixed standards along with well defined process in healthcare but that too is voluntary to opt .
Though efforts have been taken by World bank due to which projects have been started by government in various states and doing fairly good despite the fact that these project are being seriously taken by only few people at ground level and the project personals only .
In private sector also the number of NABH applicants are low as compared to registered health care providers
Even the MCI had not taken any step in terms of improving the quality of care to the patient ,they have not laid down any norms in terms of defined quality of care to be given .
Although a teaching hospital requires 75% of occupancy but not what kind of quality of care should be given to them is defined in the norms of MCI
What my personal opinion is If MCI make it mandatory for medical college to take quality module as one of a subject and obtainment of NABH entry level in first ten years and then progressive in subsequent years made mandatory then patients will be benefitted in longer run .
Same if maximum charges to provide care has been fixed for NABH and non NABH providers then also it can make a difference .
What I personally believe is if district hospitals in few states can achieve entry level ,even in few states they got accredited too then why can't it be made mandatory to the care givers who charge hefty amount to the patients especially in tier2 and tier 3 city
Which can ultimately leads to improving quality of care as well as patient safety
